UN VERANO WITH BAD BUNNY
Between Miami and Puerto Rico, Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, known best as Bad Bunny, is living in a never-ending summer. The Puerto Rican reggaeton artist has made an empire out of his music, encapsulating all the hot, sweltering aspects of Caribbean music with Un Verano Sin Ti and the more authentic urban experience with his new album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va Pasar Mañana. Throughout his career, Martinez has demonstrated pride in where he came from and where he’s arrived. Martinez’s success and inspiration have roots in both Miami and Puerto Rico, so here’s how to have a Bad Bunny themed summer between two of the most lively spots in the Atlantic.
Drive Through Vega Baja, Puerto Rico
By traveling to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny fans can get the unique experience of seeing the city from where their favorite artist came from. In downtown Vega Baja, travelers can enjoy the historic architecture and its many attractions. To hang out in Vega Baja like Bad Bunny, tourists should begin by driving through the northern coast by the white sandy beaches and rocky hills of Playa Cerro Gordo. After soaking up the sights, eating seafood or going for drinks is Martinez’s idea of a good night. In the downtown sector, tourists can find the Teatro America, a performing arts theater where one can find local productions.
Visit “Bad Bunny Beach”
When Un Verano Sin Ti came out in 2022, Bad Bunny released a 360º view music video of a paradisal beach in Puerto Rico. In the video, he can be seen lounging with his buddies, a cooler between them with the sunset in the distance. The idyllicism of the beach and its association with Bad Bunny’s music gave it a hint of mysticism, causing fans to seek it out. Bad Bunny Beach is a small secluded beach in Añasco about 2 ½ hours west of Old San Juan.
Party in La Placita
Puerto Rico is the reggaeton capital of the world, making it one of the best places to party like Bad Bunny. La Placita, located in San Juan, is a town square made up of various clubs and bars where partygoers can drink, dance, and enjoy urban Latin music. Several clubs in La Placita have listening parties dedicated to the Puerto Rican native with large, packed crowds gathering under strobing lights to have a good time.
A Home Game at Chase Stadium
Chase Stadium is home to Inter Miami, the city’s soccer team led by legend Lionel Messi. The Argentine football player is constantly mentioned in Bad Bunny’s newest album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana. The reggaeton artist expresses admiration toward Messi by referring to him as “la Cabra,” meaning the goat, in his song “Vuelve Candy B.” However pricey, a ticket to see La Cabra at Chase Stadium is a unique experience that gives Miami natives (and our favorite reggaeton artist) a lot of pride.
Lunch at Hometown BBQ.
If he would take Kendall Jenner here, it’s sure to be delicious. Located in the Allapattah neighborhood, Hometown Barbeque offers all things ribs, pork, and brisket in a more stripped-down, but comfortable setting. Bad Bunny was spotted here with his now ex-girlfriend Kendall Jenner after the Latin Billboard Awards where they enjoyed a very high-profile date. Stop by to enjoy popular menu items like the brisket sandwich, queso mac and cheese, and banana pudding.
Dinner at Gekko
Gekko is a newer addition to the Miami nightlife scene. Co-owned by Bad Bunny himself, the Japanese steakhouse conceptualizes the most opulent aspects of Japanese dining. The restaurant embodies Bad Bunny’s luxurious lifestyle with its bold decorations of glowing red lights, dragon murals, plush seating, and a menu full of truffles, gold leaves, and caviar. Located in Brickell, the restaurant is surrounded by other clubs and restaurants that make the best of what Miami has to offer in terms of entertainment.
